Model magic clay crafts!
There’s so much fun in decorating for the holidays. And even better is when you can create your own holiday decor. These adorable Model Magic clay Hot Cocoa Mugs are an amazing way to add a personal touch to your holiday decor with these fun clay crafts. With easy-to-follow steps, you can create this cute piece that you can keep or give as a gift! You can even add a string to your mug and make it into an ornament.
Supplies needed for model magic clay mug:
- Model magic clay-Mug color (I used aquamarine), Candy cane-red and white, Cocoa-brown
- Mini white pom poms (marshmallows)
- Glitter glue puff paint (silver)
- Scrap paper
- Parchment paper (or something to work on)
- White school glue
Step-by-step instructions to make your own hot cocoa mug:
1.Start with the mug, I like to create a short cylinder shape for the main part of the mug and then make a hole in the top to create the opening.
2. Roll a small “snake” shape for the mug handle, and attach it to the side of your mug.
3. Take a small piece of scrap paper and make it into a ball and put it inside the mug. (I use this so that I don’t waste clay)
4. Candy cane: Roll a small piece of red model magic clay and a small piece of white clay into a “snake” shape and then twist them together to create a candy cane shape, bend the end to create the “crook” shape.
5. Place your candy cane into the mug on one edge.
6. With the brown clay make a small disc shape that will fit on the inside of the mug opening. I create a small cutout to fit around the candy cane. Place it inside the mug.
7. You can let your mug dry completely at this stage. Add small dots of glue on top of your “hot cocoa” and then place the mini white pom poms on top.
8. Using glitter glue paint, create your design on the side of the mug, I made a snowflake but you can make whatever design you like. Let your mug dry completely.
