mini tree skirt-no sew felt crafts for kids!
Putting up and decorating a Christmas Tree is a beloved holiday tradition. And small Christmas trees are a fun and practical way to bring some extra warmth and holiday cheer to small spaces or add a twist to your holiday decor. Making your own mini Christmas Tree skirt is not only a fun felt craft but an easy way to dress up your small tree! Let’s get to it!
Supplies needed for mini tree skirt:
- Felt (white) 19″ x 19″
- Mini pom-poms
- 2 yards pom-pom trim
- Aleene’s tacky glue
- Marking tool
- String about 12″ long
- Fabric Scissors
Step-by-step instructions for your mini tree skirt felt craft:
1. Cut your felt into a 19″ x 19″ square, and fold twice into a square to find the center.
2. Cut a length of string about 12″ long. Tie the end to a marking tool. You will want the final length of the string to be about 9″ long.
3. Place the loose end of the string in the middle of the felt square and use your marking tool to create an even circle. If you can get someone to help hold your felt still for this step, it is helpful in making your circle.
4. Cut out your felt circle.
5. Fold your circle twice, and then cut out a small section in the middle to create a circle cut out in the middle of your tree skirt. You can adjust the size of the inside circle depending on your tree base size.
6. Cut a line from the edge to the middle circle cut out, even out the inside circle if needed.
7. Attach your pom-pom trim to the wrong side of your felt (the side you marked)using a bead of tacky glue on the edge of the outside circle of the felt. Continue all the way around.
8. Once the trim is attached, turn your tree skirt to the right side and attach your mini pom-poms to the front. I spread them out where I liked the placement and then added a dot of glue to attach them.
9. Let the glue dry completely and then you are ready to decorate your mini tree!
